The former N’Sync member confessed being gay in an exclusive interview with People magazine in June 2006. "I feel free and happier than ever," said Bass after accepting his homosexuality.

4.ALEJANDRO AMENÁBAR
Years ago, the Spanish director known for such films as The Others and Tesis, opened up about his sexuality. "It scares me a little to know how curious people are about my private life, but on the other hand, it doesn’t bother me identifying myself as a gay man."

5. JODIE FOSTER
For more than 15 years, the Hollywood star and mother of two, kept her silence about her intimate life and although most speculated on her sexual orientation, the truth didn’t go public until December of 2007 when she dedicated an award to her partner, Cydney Bernard.

6. GEORGE TAKEI
In 2005, Captain Sulu of Star Trek opened up about his partner of 18 years and now husband since 2008. At 72 years old, Takei is known as an activist for gay rights.

7. ELLEN DEGENERES
More than 10 years ago, in an interview with TIME magazine she claimed she could keep her personal and professional life at a distance, avoiding the question if she was gay or not. "Now I feel more comfortable, without worries that it may destroy my career," said Degeneres who is now married to actress, Portia De Rossi.

8. LINDSAY LOHAN
The controversial actress had many boyfriends before her first female partner. On a Los Angeles radio show, Lohan let the public in on her romantic relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson, one that has been in the public eye for their squabbles. Now, rumors are circulating about the possible rekindling of their relationship.

9. GUILLERMO DÍAZ
Since the Cuban actor –who plays Guillermo on Weeds (Showtime) — started his career he has always let known his sexual orientation. His MySpace page declares him as openly gay.

10. BRYAN SINGER
Another person who has never covered up their sexuality is the famed director of the X-Men trilogy. In 2006 with the release of Superman Returns which he directed, Singer confronted the media after being criticized for making the character too effeminate. Something he refuted by saying that Superman is one of the most heterosexual characters he has ever made in a film.

11. CYNTHIA NIXON
As opposed to others, the Sex and the City actress found it more difficult for her children, Samantha and Charles, to understand she was in love with another woman. Today they are a happy family and her relationship with Christine Marinoni runs six years long. "I’ve been with men my whole life but when I fell in love with a woman I didn’t feel weird, just a woman in love with another," said Nixon after going public.

12. KELLY McGILLIS
Just recently, well-known actress from the classic film Top Gun admitted to being single on the radio show Girl Rock. When asked if she was looking for a new man or woman in her life she took the chance to put the rumors to rest on her sexuality: "Definitely a woman. I am done with the man thing. In life, you have to keep moving forward," said McGillis, mother of two, twice married and divorced.

13. DUSTIN LANCE BLACK
Recently, winner of the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Milk, opened up in his acceptance speech about growing up in a Mormon family and admitted to once considering suicide. 14. NEIL PATRICK HARRIS
How I Met Your Mother (CBS) star came out of the closet in an interview with People in 2006. "The public eye has been very good to me but since there is certain curiosity over my private and intimate life, I’m prepared to air out the rumors before people start making their own opinions of me: I am proud to say that I am a happy, gay man."

15. T.R. KNIGHTS
As did Harris, actor of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy spoke with People to declare once and for all his sexuality as implicated by his fellow men. "I hope that me being gay isn’t the most interesting quality I possess."

16. IAN McKELLEN
In 1988, the British actor was one of the first actors to openly admit his sexual preference. Since then, he has dedicated himself to fighting against the discrimination of the gay community as well as founding the Stonewall Community Foundation, which is rooted to combating a law that prohibits talk of the lesbian gay bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in Great Britain’s schools.

17. DAVID HYDE PIERCE
After years of speculation, the actor decided to break the silence in 2007 about his partnership. Last year, Pierce married his partner, director and producer, Brian Hargrove.

18. WILSON CRUZ
When the young Puerto Rican actor joined the Hollywood crowd he let know publicly his sexuality. According to him, he set out to see how long he could go without hiding who he is. At 19, he admitted to his parents, who didn’t take the news too lightly in the beginning. When Cruz is not busy acting he spends his time motivating young gays, bisexuals, lesbians and transgendered.

19. GEORGE MICHAEL
In 1998, after two decades of music, the British singer candidly spoke on CNN. "I have no problem with people who know I hold a relationship with a man. I haven’t been with a woman in almost 10 years," said Michael who not too long before that was arrested for engaging in lewd acts with an undercover policeman in a Beverly Hills park bathroom.

20. CHAVELA VARGAS
Although the Mexican singer kept a seal on her intimate life, it was in 2000 at the age of 81 that she went public in an interview with a Madrid newspaper, EL Pais. "I was born this way since the very first moment I opened my eyes to this world. I have never been in bed with a man, that’s how pure I am. I have nothing to be ashamed about. My gods made me this way."

21. ELTON JOHN
In the seventies, the British singer told Rolling Stone magazine that he was bisexual but that with time, he had come to prefer men only. John is now married to Canadian producer, David Furnish.

the battle begins: Gerald vs. Aljur

Michael Jackson, the 'King of Pop,' dies at age 50

Posted by ram agentorange

LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the "King of Pop" and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday. He was 50. Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Ed Winter, the assistant chief coroner for Los Angeles County, confirmed his office had been notified of the death and would handle the investigation.

The circumstances of Jackson's death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to the hospital, Ruda told the newspaper.

Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.

The public first knew him in the late 1960s, when as a boy he was the precocious, spinning lead singer of the Jackson 5, the music group he formed with his four older brothers. Among their No. 1 hits were "I Want You Back," "ABC," and "I'll Be There."

He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves and his high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove, tight, military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses were trademarks second only to his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.

"For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words," said Quincy Jones, who produced "Thriller." "He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I've lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him."

Jackson ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensations of all time. He united two of music's biggest names when he was briefly married to Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie, and Jackson's death immediately evoked that of Presley himself, who died at age 42 in 1977.

As years went by, Jackson became an increasingly freakish figure — a middle-aged man-child weirdly out of touch with grown-up life. His skin became lighter, his nose narrower, and he spoke in a breathy, girlish voice. He surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch, often wore a germ mask while traveling and kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions.

"It seemed to me that his internal essence was at war with the norms of the world. It's as if he was trying to defy gravity," said Michael Levine, a Hollywood publicist who represented Jackson in the early 1990s. He called Jackson a "disciple of P.T. Barnum" and said the star appeared fragile at the time but was "much more cunning and shrewd about the industry than anyone knew."

Jackson caused a furor in 2002 when he playfully dangled his infant son, Prince Michael II, over a hotel balcony in Berlin while a throng of fans watched from below.

In 2005, he was cleared of charges he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at Neverland in 2003. He had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him, and of engaging in strange and inappropriate behavior with other children.

The case followed years of rumors about Jackson and young boys. In a TV documentary, he had acknowledged sharing his bed with children, a practice he described as sweet and not at all sexual.

Despite the acquittal, the lurid allegations that came out in court took a fearsome toll on his career and image, and he fell into serious financial trouble.

Jackson was preparing for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, with the first set for July 13. He was in rehearsals in Los Angeles for the concert, an extravaganza that was to capture the classic Jackson magic: showstopping dance moves, elaborate staging and throbbing dance beats.

Singer Dionne Warwick said: "Michael was a friend and undoubtedly one of the world's greatest entertainers that I fortunately had the pleasure of working with. ... We have lost an icon in our industry."

Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital as word of his death spread. The emergency entrance at the UCLA Medical Center, which is near Jackson's rented home, was roped off with police tape.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Michael Jackson has just died," a woman boarding a Manhattan bus called out, shortly after the news was announced. Immediately many riders reached for their cell phones.

So many people wanted to verify the early reports of Jackson's death that the computers running Google's news section interpreted the fusillade of "Michael Jackson" requests as an automated attack for about half an hour Thursday evening.

In New York's Times Square, a low groan went up in the crowd when a screen flashed that Jackson had died, and people began relaying the news to friends by cell phone.

"No joke. King of Pop is no more. Wow," Michael Harris, 36, of New York City, read from a text message a friend sent to his telephone. "It's like when Kennedy was assassinated. I will always remember being in Times Square when Michael Jackson died."

Katherine Heigl Returning to Grey’s Anatomy
June 19, 2009

Her friend T.R. Knight might be leaving Grey’s Anatomy, but Katherine Heigl will still be sporting scrubs come fall.

A rep for ABC confirms to PEOPLE that Heigl, who plays Dr. Izzie Stephens, isn’t leaving the show despite speculation that she was ready to go to focus on her movie career. The rep also confirmed that Jessica Capshaw, who plays Dr. Arizona Robbins, will return to the show as a series regular.

Show writers left Heigl’s character in a precarious position at the end of last season. After surviving surgery for her brain tumor, Izzie took a turn for the worse, and viewers were left with an ambiguous image of Izzie on an elevator in the dress she wore when Denny died. Knight’s character, Dr. George O’Malley, who was a John Doe at Seattle Grace, was waiting when the doors the elevator doors opened.

In announcing his departure from the show, Knight said the decision was not easy. “I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to play this character,” he said in a statement, “and will miss my fellow cast and crew very much.”

Tell us: Are you happy Katherine Heigl will be back on Grey’s? What will happen to Izzie?

Chace Crawford: Hottest Bachelor In Town?

Posted by ram agentorange

Chace Crawford is People’s Hottest Bachelor
Wed, 17 June 2009

Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford tops People magazine’s list of Hottest Bachelors. Here’s what the 23-year-old shared:

On his first kiss: “It was fifth grade. Her name was Kiley Smith and she was my best friend’s twin sister. It was one of those super-awkward things. We were at camp, on a lake, really picturesque – it’s kind of seared into memory! We’re still friends.”

On dating Carrie Underwood: “I have nothing bad to say about that experience. It was awesome. I just didn’t know how to deal with it. I learned a ton about dating someone in that kind of spotlight. It was such a whirlwind, but no regrets.”

On a perfect date: “All you need is a pool table, beer, an electric jukebox and good conversation. The day a girl beats me in a game of Beirut [a kind of beer pong] is a good sign!”

hmmm, but what does this next article says?

People Hugely Misfires With Chace Crawford
By Ted Casablanca Wed Jun 17, 1:34 PM PDTs

So…People named Chace Crawford its Hottest Bachelor. Give us a girlie-looking break! People is really on our sh-t list right now. All they focus on anymore is the "hotness" that is Gyllenspoon coffee breaks, and now—for an issue that has the chance to completely ooze with sex—they pick a frontman who is so dang pretty and boring, there's nothing steaming about him. Where's Chace's string of lady conquests, à la George Clooney? Isn't that what a bachelor is supposed to be—handsome, delicious and out of your league?

This mag used to get it right, pre the media-mainstream Matthew McConaughey days, picking the likes of Johnny Depp, Jude Law and young Brad Pitt to grace its covers. Those were real men.

So leave it to the A.T. to take over Stud Watch for the summer. Our pick for the Bachelor title?

Bradley Cooper. He's a triple-threat: ridiculously attractive in a messy-but-sweet-'n'-sex way, has game (he recently bedded Jennifer Aniston) and has talent (The Hangover, 'nuff said).

Now, don't freak Twi lovers, because this is so not Robert Pattinson's throne. First of all, we've already started the campaign for the title Rob really deserves: Sexiest Man Alive (runner-up is True Blood hottie Ryan Kwanten). Plus, in our Robsten-lovin' hearts, Pattz isn't a bachelor!

She's rich. She's talented. She's beautiful. And now Angelina Jolie is the most powerful celebrity in the world.

Thanks to the release of several blockbuster movies and an endless sea of media buzz, Jolie has dethroned Oprah Winfrey to top this year's Celebrity 100 list, Forbes' annual ranking of the world's ultra famous.

Jolie raked in $27 million in the past 12 months thanks to a movie schedule that included "Kung Fu Panda," "Wanted" and the not-yet-released spy thriller "Salt." Even more impressive: The publicity she garnered following the birth of her twins, as well as the consistent headlines she grabs for her philanthropic efforts and her relationship with actor Brad Pitt, who ranks No. 9 on the list.

In Pictures: The World's Most Powerful Celebrities

Winfrey drops to No. 2 on the list. The media maven has pocketed $275 million in the last year, making her the list's top earner. Though viewership for her daily chat fest, "The Oprah Winfrey Show," continues to erode, her earnings remain unchanged from a year ago. In addition to Winfrey's monthly magazine, she has a three-year, $55 million deal with XM Satellite Radio. Early next year, the self-made billionaire will roll out the lifestyle-themed Oprah Winfrey Network in partnership with Discovery Communications.

In a year filled with humbling bank failures and violent stock market swings, the earning power of the 2009 Celebrity 100 remained remarkably resilient. The cumulative earnings of the 2009 list totaled $4.1 billion, up slightly from last year's $4 billion haul.

The primary reason celebrities are still making big money: Many stars are locked into long-term performance and endorsement contracts. If the economy does not improve, expect the downturn to catch up to the A-list next year.

The Celebrity 100, which includes film and television actors, models, chefs, athletes, authors, and musicians, is a measure of entertainment-related earnings and media visibility (exposure in print, television, radio and online). The earnings estimates consist of pre-tax income between June 2008 and June 2009. Management, agent, and attorney fees are not deducted.

Rounding out the top five on the list are pop icon Madonna ($110 million), singer Beyonce Knowles ($87 million), and golfer Tiger Woods ($110 million).

The Material Girl banked the majority of her millions on the road. Her "Hard Candy" tour rounded out 2008 as the year's top-grossing international tour, raking in $280 million across 17 countries.

Knowles' haul came from album sales, tour performances, films, a fashion collection, and a lengthy list of endorsement deals.

Woods' pile of cash came mostly from endorsements, appearance fees, and a lucrative gig designing golf courses. He spent most of the year sidelined with a knee injury.

Among the newcomers on this year's list: "Twilight" scribe Stephanie Meyer (No. 26) and country crooner Taylor Swift (No. 69). Meyer, who sold 29 million books and created a vampire frenzy, earned $50 million during the year-long period. Swift was the top-selling U.S. artist of 2008, banking $18 million off of a tour, album sales and endorsement deals.

Barack Obama joins the list as the first sitting head of state to land on the Celebrity 100. The President's historic election last year helped him sell millions of books. He debuts on this year's list at No. 49, with book earnings of $2.5 million for the 12-month period.

To make room for the new entries to the list, 37 bold-faced stars fell off. Among them: J.K. Rowling and Johnny Depp. Rowling lacked a new "Harry Potter" book, while Depp failed to release or collect on an installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Pink and Carey Hart Back Together

Posted by ram agentorange

It's a good thing Pink and her husband Carey Hart have a sense of humor.

The singer, who acknowledges in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres airing Friday that she and her ex are a couple again, says she finds it funny to perform her hit song "So What" – which contains some choice words for Hart.

"He's in the audience so when I sing, 'He's a tool,' now that's my favorite line," she tells DeGeneres. "Hi, Honey, that's you."

When the talk show host offers her congratulations on being "happy" and "back together" after splitting up, Pink says, "We are. Thank you."

Pink and Hart got married in Costa Rica in January 2006 and announced their split two years later, but, "We didn't do the paperwork deal," says Pink.

Asked if she and the motocross racer would consider having another wedding ceremony, Pink says coyly, "I love a party."

Mariah Carey is known to fans as one of the most glamorous women in the world. But now they are about to see a different side of her in a gritty new movie.

Carey, 40, undergoes a transformation from her usual glam self into a dowdy social worker in the drama Precious, which was well received – as was Carey's performance – at its Cannes screening Friday.

"The only reactions from fans who have seen the trailer and twittered me have said the movie's amazing," Carey tells PEOPLE. "No one has said, 'Girl I can't believe you are there with those dark circles under your eyes and wearing a wig and looking nasty.' No one went that far."

Her husband, Nick Cannon, has been equally positive. "My husband's response was over-the-top supportive and amazing. It was not like, 'I can't believe you let yourself look like that in the movie.' "

Precious is based on the book Push by Sapphire and tells the story of a young girl growing up amid terrible domestic abuse in Harlem. It will be released to the public on Nov. 6.

Peel Away Layers
Carey told a small gathering of press at Cannes, "[The book] is intense and it is life-changing. I said, 'Let me peel layers away of who the world thinks I am, of who I personally think I am as a performer, as anything, and become, truly become, this woman who has a large responsibility.' "

Of her character, Carey said: "She is the audience and is that shocked person who hears what goes on and has to kind of bare her soul because she's hearing something that is so horrific that she's never heard before. There's a creative side of me that needs to do work like this."

Carey was chosen for the part at the last minute. "I thought how bold would it be to cast Mariah," says director Lee Daniels. "If she could dye her hair, put on a wig, take off the makeup, darken under the eyes, I believed she would begin to give me her soul. And she did."

The result, according to singer Lenny Kravitz, who plays a nurse in the movie, "was beautiful."

New Star
In addition to Carey's transformation, the movie's other surprise is its breakout star Gabourey Sidibe, who plays the leading role. It is her first movie – and she's loving the attention in Cannes.

"I'm having the most fun ever, more fun than I imagined myself having," she told PEOPLE. "This is completely glamorous. This is nothing like I thought my life would be heading towards."

More roles are likely to follow. "I just got my second movie offer. It's a little too soon to talk about it but I am really excited about it because I'm an actress now."

Rock music is the theme on American Idol Top 4 Performance Night and it’s a no-brainer that Adam Lambert rules!

On the other hand, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen are not in their element and it feels like, as if the producers are rooting for Adam and Allison for the finale for making “rock music” the theme this week.

As expected, Kris Allen and Danny Gokey didn’t deliver. Simon said Kris Allen’s rendition of “Come Together” by the Beatles is like “eating ice for lunch…leaves you nothing to remember.” The acid-tongued judge had this to say on Danny’s rendition of “Dream On”: “The last note was like watching a horror movie (referring to Friday the 13th)…it was a little over the top.”

Adam Lambert - Whole Lotta Love

Allison Iraheta - Cry Baby

Kris Allen - Come Together

Danny Gokey - Dream On

The 17 Again actress, 37, is drawn to comedies and funny guys. But there's a catch: "Like Steve Carell; he's super-sexy because he doesn't know how good-looking he is," says Mann. "Cocky nerd is kind of fun – but sexy nerd is not!"

Susan Boyle at 22: Early Performance Revealed!

If there was ever any question, she's always had talent. In a 25-year-old video that recently surfaced, a fresh-faced Susan Boyle – just 22 at the time – takes the stage at a local Scottish club looking trim and youthful.

In the clip from Scotland's Daily Record, the Britain's Got Talent star sings "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from Jesus Christ Superstar and Barbra Streisand's "The Way We Were" in the Motherwell FC's Fir Park Social Club singing contest. Boyle, now 47, had been a late addition to the local singing team, Coventry Tam O'Shanter, after someone had dropped out.

"I can remember that she was a shy young girl, but also very attractive back then – she turned a few heads when she came into the club," school caretaker Gerry McGuinness, 61, told the Daily Record of her appearance, 10 years before she would take singing lessons. He was there for the performance and dug up an old tape after seeing Boyle on TV more recently.

"Even back then, I don't think anyone expected too much from her because she was so shy, but when she began singing people took notice," he said. “It's great Susan is finally getting some recognition. She is a great singer and it seems right that at some point she would get the credit she deserved."

Meet the Hunks of X-Men Origins: Wolverine

It technically may not yet be summer, but the heat is on as X-Men Origins: Wolverine kicks off summer blockbuster season May 1 – thanks to Hugh Jackman's chest, Ryan Reynolds's biceps and smoldering turns from, among others, a TV football player and a Korean movie idol. Here's your guide to the sexy mutants:

NAME: Hugh Jackman
CHARACTER: Logan, a.k.a. Wolverine
WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HIM BEFORE: The first three X-Men films; PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive 2008

PEOPLE's reigning Sexiest Man beefs up for every X-Men role, but this time he took his training even further. The Aussie heartthrob started working out a year before shooting began and stuck to a high-protein diet. "I work out imagining I'm Wolverine," Jackman told Access Hollywood. "Wolverine to me is the guy that when everybody else quits, that's where he begins." The result: lots of bare-chested sceen time showcasing his rippling muscles and a naked scene that reveals (almost) all. His prep work was so successful, says Reynolds, that Jackman, 40, "looked a lot like a guy who was going to make a necklace out of my teeth."

NAME: Liev Schreiber
CHARACTER: Victor Creed, a.k.a. Sabretooth
WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HIM BEFORE: Scream 1-3; CBS's CSI
NEXT UP: Currently filming Salt with Angelina Jolie

The bloodthirsty brother of Jackman's Wolverine, Schreiber's husky-voiced Sabretooth moves like a cat despite his hulking frame. How'd he bulk up for the role of a mutant with super-healing powers, razor-sharp claws and animal-like senses? "Fans [online] said, 'you need to get bigger,'" says Schreiber, 41, who has two sons with actress Naomi Watts. "I did the high protein diet; between [me and Jackman] I think we wiped out an entire gene pool of chickens."

NAME: Ryan Reynolds
CHARACTER: Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool
WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HIM BEFORE: 2008's Definitely, Maybe; TV's Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place
NEXT UP: The Proposal with Sandra Bullock

Not content to be your garden-variety superhero, Reynolds shows off his guns in sleeveless t-shirts while infusing the character with his usual brand of cheeky, poker-faced humor. Deadpool, he says, is "a cross between Commando and Phantom of the Opera by way of Caddyshack." (Huh?) Reynolds trained for countless hours with katana swords to get ready for the role, and no doubt to wife Scarlett Johansson's great relief, escaped some close calls to very personal areas. "You're gonna wanna wear pants for that," Reynolds, 32, deadpans. "I honestly just about lost my 'future legacy' a couple of times."

NAME: Will.i.am
CHARACTER: John Wraith
WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HIM BEFORE: Grooving with his Black Eyed Peas bandmates

Hip-hop star Will.i.am makes no bones about it – going from musician to mutant was a challenge. On the plane to Australia to begin filming, he suddenly realized he was on his own. "I tour with my friends, [and] here I am going for the first time to do the total opposite of what I normally do," he says. But taking on powers of teleportation and joining Team X with the other mutants was great fun for Will.i.am, 34, who told MTV News of Wraith: "He's just a badass who'll whoop [you]."

NAME: Taylor Kitsch
CHARACTER: Remy LeBeau, a.k.a. Gambit
WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HIM BEFORE: NBC's Friday Night Lights
UP NEXT: He's filming The Bang Bang Club with Ryan Philippe

The Canadian hunk, 28, plays a mutant with attitude in the film. But, he says, he had to fake it – for a while, anyway. "When I first got there [I was] nervous," Kitsch says. "And when I ... met [Jackman], it was really great." To get psyched up to play a New Orleans thief with a gift for killer card-throwing, Kitsch turned on his iPod and listened to the bluesy John Lee Hooker "all the time," he says.

NAME: Daniel Henney
CHARACTER: David North, a.k.a. Agent Zero
WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HIM BEFORE: He's a major movie star in Korea; Wolverine is his U.S. breakthrough role

A former model, Michigan native Henney has been nurturing his acting career in Seoul, Korea, for the past few years, where his brooding good looks have given female fans heart palpitations and made him a household name. As lethal marksman Agent Zero, Henney, 29, is ice-cold – and plenty hot – in his relentless pursuit of Wolverine.

Where has the time gone? With smiles on their faces, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated one year of wedded bliss Thursday in Las Vegas at the Palms Casino Resort.

"It's a very special occasion," Cannon told the crowd at Moon Nightclub, where he was deejaying, "toast to everyone."

After a very private wedding a year ago, the couple decided to do the opposite for their anniversary, celebrating with a nightclub full of people. The couple did, however, dine in a private room at Simon beforehand.

Once inside the club, the couple were greeted with a four-foot birthday cake. And the surprises kept coming – at least for Carey. Unbeknownst to her, Cannon produced a video of the couple's last year, including video of intimate moments.

After the video was shown, Carey was seen crying.

"This is the most amazing person in the world," Cannon said into the microphone about his wife. "I dedicate my life to her daily, and together this union is gonna last forever. She is my rock."

Carey replied: "I have the best man in the whole wide world."

The gushfest continued after a balloon drop and a clubwide toast, which Cannon dedicated to his wife.

How Did Lady Gaga Become Lady Gaga?

Posted by ram agentorange

I am defying all preconceptions we have of pop artists. That's how 23-year-old Lady Gaga sees herself.

But how did the Grammy-nominated singer go from brunette Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta to preconception defying, flashy dressing, platinum blonde superstar Lady Gaga?

Germanotta was born in Yonkers, New York, where she attended a private Catholic girls school, wrote her first piano ballad at age 13, and then won early entrance into New York's prestigious Tisch school for the performing arts.

But Germanotta needed to strike out on her own to become Lady Gaga. She ditched school and threw herself into New York's Lower East Side music scene as a naive, convent-educated teenager.

"I went against all I was brought up to be; I moved out of home, wouldn't take any help from my parents [her internet entrepreneur dad and his business partner wife], and supported myself with waitressing jobs and stripping," she said. "I discovered a real personal freedom through it."

It wasn't long before Germanotta's talent for writing hook-laden melodies came to the attention of major record labels. Just 20, she wrote hits for the Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears and New Kids On The Block.

But it was while working with producer Rob Fusari that she got her attention-grabbing stage name. After noting that her singing voice sounded like her hero, Queen's Freddie Mercury, Fusari named her Lady Gaga for the Queen hit "Radio Ga Ga."

While her provocative burlesque pop act Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue was a hit in Manhattan's downtown nightclubs, mainstream showbusiness was nonplussed. When she showed up for auditions with labels and musicals, the usual reaction was utter bewilderment.

"A lot of record labels thought I was too theatrical," she said. "Then, when I auditioned for stage musicals, the producers said I was too pop."

Finally, it was rapper Akon who recognised her singing ability and got her a major deal.

And the rest is Gaga history.

The Forbes Country List: Taylor Swift's Rapid Rise

Posted by ram agentorange

While she's only 19 and hasn't even begun her first tour as a headliner, Taylor Swift has swiftly risen to the number four spot on Forbes magazine's just-published list of estimated top earners in country music for 2009.

Of course, after selling more than 4 million CDs last year--a feat that made her the best-selling solo artist of 2008--t's not really a surprise that Swift made the list, which the business journal puts together by calculating estimates on grosses, merchandise revenue, album sales, and income from endorsement and licensing deals.

With an estimated take-in of $18 million for '09, she ranks behind only Kenny Chesney ($65 million), Rascal Flatts ($60 million), and Toby Keith ($52 million), and ahead of the likes of Brooks & Dunn and Tim McGraw, who are tied for fifth place with $15 million.

What is surprising is the fact that the teenaged Swift has so quickly crashed through the cowboy hat that is Nashville's version of the proverbial glass ceiling. All the others in the above list were also in Forbes' Top Five in 2008, and while much of that is certainly due to country music's longstanding fanbase allegiances to its established acts, it's noteworthy that the only other females on the list are Carrie Underwood and Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles. Both of them are tied for eighth with $14 million behind Brad Paisley ($15 million), with "Elder Statesman" Alan Jackson rounding out the Top Ten with an estimated '09 haul of $12 million.

It's also noteworthy that Swift has achieved all this despite being part of a genre whose CD sales fell some 24 percent last year, as country music had the dubious distinction of following only classical music in overall sales drops (the decline for the music industry as whole was 14 percent.)

Still, since the average ticket for a country concert cost far less than comparable acts in rock or pop, the genre is a bit less susceptible to sharp declines in its overall popularity. And those endorsement and merchandising deals, which young Ms. Swift is only first getting a bronco-busting like handle on, are another reason. As veteran industry executive Joe Galante of Sony BMG Nashville points out, country is still regarded as the "music of the people. Marketers are realizing that if you want to reach the mainstream audience--the people that show up for work every day and are raising families--then country needs to be part of the mix."

And, barring undue influence of friends like Miley Cyrus, as long as she can keep the diva demons away, Ms. Swift just might just keep reshaping the moneymaking side of country music's good ol' boy network.

Enchong Dee Topbills Your Song Presents: ‘Boystown’

Posted by ram agentorange

The new Star Magic all-male group Gigger Boys—comprised of Robi Domingo, Dino Imperial, Sam Concepcion, Arron Villaflor, AJ Perez, and Chris Gutierrez—will headline the cast of the upcoming Your Song Presents: Boystown.

Leading the show is Gigger Boys’ other member Enchong Dee. “Kinakabahan ako. Sabi ko nga sa manager ko na kung pwede niya akong samahan dito sa story conference. This is very important to me because this could either make or break my career. I think the fact the nagpunta siya dito all the way from Makati amidst his busy schedule I’m very thankful. Hindi lang sa kanya kung hindi sa lahat and to God most especially. Also with all the people saying na ako ang parang lead dito, nakakakilig talaga.”, said an overwhelming Enchong.

A champion swimmer, Enchong got his first showbiz break in the teen-oriented dramas Abt Ur Luv and Astigs. In the early part of his career, he did several supporting roles and was a member of many ensemble-acting pieces, most notably in Mars Ravelo’s Lastikman, My Girl, and Your Song Presents: My Only Hope. But this time around, Enchong gets to spearhead the cast of Boystown.

It’s a challenge for this 20-year-old actor-athlete to portray Arnel, a short-tempered young man. Enchong said that the story of Boystown will show different kinds of rivalries involving its characters. “Kay Robi may rivalry with girls. Kay Dino may rivalry sa physicality. Rivalry with family naman kay Tita Ana (Roces).”

When asked on how he plans to play Arnel who is very much different from his true personality, Enchong said “Tutal tapos na rin lang ang school pwede ko na siguro ilabas ang lahat ng kalokohan ko (laughs). Siguro I will try my best to play the character in the darkest way I can. In my character makikita mo ‘yung good and bad side.”

The golden couple keeps mum about their relationship until its end in 2007.

A visibly uncomfortable Hartnett says: "Whoa, whoa, whoa...No, no, no...C'mon you guys...This is...uh...We weren't supposed to talk about these things were we?"
